Lavender Syrup for Tea
Sugar-Free Blueberry Lavender Syrup is sweet, soothing, and subtly fragrant and works perfectly with any tea, adding a hint of floral, delicate flavor!
Lavender is well known for its relaxing properties and has a natural aromatic scent that tastes delicious as a basis for a herbal or fruity caffeine-free tea or to bring out the richness of specialty teas such as Earl Grey.
Unsure where to buy lavender simple syrup? We’d recommend our skinny syrup as a calorie- and sugar-free option, which makes tea substantially healthier than when made with standard simple syrup, enhancing the effect of lavender tea without the sugar rush that can make it difficult to sleep.
Benefits of Drinking Lavender Tea
The bright purple lavender plant is part of mother nature's medicine cabinet and has many benefits, promoting calmness, better rest, reduced inflammation, and a happier immune system. Whether you prefer herbal or caffeinated tea, you can elevate your everyday cup with lavender or brew an incredible pot of tea using fresh leaves and herbs with a touch of sweetness.
Lavender simple syrup can counteract the calming nature of this gentle flower, with a large dose of sugar, around twenty-five calories per spoonful, and seven grams of carbs, which spike your blood sugars. Replacing simple syrup with a Skinny Mixes sugar-free alternative is an excellent way to gain the relaxation benefits of the scent of lavender while improving your mood and overall sense of well-being!
How to Make a Perfect Lavender Tea
Using skinny Blueberry Lavender Syrup couldn't be easier–pump your required amount of syrup (depending on how sweet you like your tea), stir, and sip.
Still, tea connoisseurs might like to get more technical and create incredible teas, such as a lavender Earl Grey, which is also known as a classic London Fog. You can drink this hot or cold, adding a handful of ice in the summer to create a chilled iced tea that is as refreshing as it is relaxing.
Earl Grey is made with bergamot, and the underlying citrusy flavor works incredibly well with the floral notes of lavender. Here’s what you’ll need:
- A strong Earl Grey–either in loose leaves or tea bag form
- Frothed milk or a dairy-free alternative
- A hint of vanilla–you can use extract or a tiny splash of our sugar-free Vanilla Syrup and, of course, Blueberry Lavender Syrup
Steep your Earl Grey in hot water (let it cool down a little if it is freshly boiled) and gently warm your milk, using a frother to whip up a smooth foam. Pour the frothed milk over the tea with your vanilla and one or two spoonfuls of lavender syrup, and enjoy.
If you'd prefer an iced version, brew your tea beforehand, and leave it to chill in the fridge with cold-frothed milk to taste.
Can I Put Lavender Syrup in Coffee?
If you’re not a tea drinker or prefer a stronger caffeine boost to get the day started, lavender syrup works equally well in coffee! The aromatherapy effects are similar, reducing the jittery feeling you can experience when you’ve one too many espressos. Feeling over-caffeinated can cause anxiety, stress, and a fluttering heart rate, which is unpleasant.
While lavender doesn’t stop your coffee from making you feel bright-eyed and wide awake, it can balance an aggressive surge of caffeine and calm your pulse, making you the perfect balance of relaxed, fresh, and energized.
First thing in the morning, we naturally encounter a cortisol response where our bodies have just woken up, making us susceptible to caffeine, which may not kick in until we reach the bottom of the cup. Adding zero-calorie lavender syrup and a splash of milk means we don't absorb more caffeine than necessary and shock ourselves awake–a win-win if you need to be focused and productive without the caffeine shakes!
One of our favorite pick-me-ups is a sweet, velvety lavender latte as a warming drink on a cold morning. Brew your choice of coffee beans or add ground coffee to a French press for an authentic taste, and add a spoon or two of our Blueberry Lavender Syrup! Steamed milk adds a luxurious creamy taste to a gorgeous latte that tastes a little special.
